‘Unbothered’
In an exploration of lived gender experiences, this series in progress aims to capture the world after dark—a world almost exclusively accessible to those perceived as white, cisgender men.
These images, captured exclusively handheld on high iso film, are an attempt to expose a seemingly simple, yet all too real, difference in the way men and women are able to navigate space at night.
Walking through the alleyways and dimly lit streets after dark, there’s a realm of beauty, silence, and calmness that has only become available to me after my transition to male. It is through this privileged, gendered lens that I wish to expose the world that women have come to avoid at all cost, for fear of being bothered in all senses of the word.
